Each Month a student will be chosen that has shown determination, improvement, an outstanding attitude and above all has given 100%. we will show off our amazing students here and ensure we recognise their efforts.
OK so some would say that giving our first ever award to my wife is a little unfair. Those that know me would say she must have really worked for it as I make it ten times harder for my family than anyone else.
Sarah has been with us from day one - in fact, without here this club would not even be here. Its Sarah's drive, determination and belief in my abilities that allowed this club to be formed. We all owe Sarah thanks for getting this club set up and running, and for that, she truly deserves this award.
After much deliberation and debate, our student of the month has been announced as Chris. Chris has shown huge commitment to his training and attends as many classes as he can. However it’s not his attendance that has gained him this accolade, its Chris's attitude and approach to his training. He always gives 100% and is not afraid to ask questions in order to better understand both the club and Karate as a whole. He pushes himself and his learning and his discipline and respect towards all members of the club is outstanding. I hope to have Chris as a student for many years to come.
A unanimous decision. Our entire instructor team agreed whole heartedly that Lacey deserved to be our Outstanding Student for April. Lacey has a fantastic attitude, an amazing desire to learn and always puts in 100 effort. She is a pleasure to teach and although she is not the loudest student, she has truly stood out since she started with us earlier this year. She has the ability to make the hardest classes seem so much easier. Well done Lacey.
Phil attends pretty much every class and always puts in a huge amount of effort in both in his own training and teaching other students. Having had a few months break from karate before joining us at RGK getting back into the swing of things has been tough but he has come back with a great passion and determination to succeed.
As a teacher Phil is always there to help any students out, whether they are beginners or more advanced.
We recently had some amazing feed back from a parent of one of our students, praising Phil and thanking him for all his hard work.
Well done Phil!
Having trained with Siobhan for a number of years I know how much getting this means to her.
Karate is a way of life, a lifestyle choice. It should be practiced as often as possible. Sometimes life gets in the way and things happen that can’t be helped and mean training has to take a back seat. When that’s the case get to class when you can and train as hard as possible, just like Siobhan.
Every class Siobhan attends she shows improvement, hard work and commitment. Her karate is strong and she is a shining example of how much effort everyone should put in at class.
On a personal note it is great to see how far Siobhan has come in her training since joining RGK and the support for the club she has shown.
Very well done Siobhan!
Jake has been doing karate now for 5 years and I can honestly say he has massively improved over the last 6 months in both his karate and his attitude. He has starting helping out the other students and has really knuckled down over the last few months.
Well done Jake
Aw little Sam!
Karate is not always about being better than other people, it is about being the best YOU can be. We pick our student of the month based on their own improvement and karate journey. Sam has shown a huge amount of improvement over the last few months in his karate, his attitude and his discipline. He has been with the club since day one when we couldn’t get him to stand still for a minute let alone concentrate for a full 90 minute class. He now comes to class and try’s really hard and is improving week on week.
Well done Sam
September Student of the Month!!
Starting any martial art from scratch is hard, changing styles is just as hard!
Ang has come to us having trained in a different style of karate and many people would say that’s easier than starting from scratch but I would say the opposite. Learning new things and getting out of old habits can be hard.
Ang is such a hard working student, he is re learning everything he has learnt before in a totally new style. He is at class every week and since Tuesday class has moved he has started twice a week. But not only does he just turn up to class he works damn hard!! He puts so much effort in it is unreal.
Well done Ang we are so proud of how well you are doing, keep up the good word.
October Student of the month.
One of the best things about being an instructor is having the pleasure of handing out student of the month.
I have known and taught Kelsea for a number of years and have had the chance to see her grow up into the lovely young lady she is becoming.
Over the last few months Kelsea has grown so much in her karate. She has started to understand more about the practical side of the karate that she is doing and applying that theory. She has taken on the challenge of helping others out by taking small groups of other students and teaching them katas.
But what amazed me about Kelsea this month was when we did break falls and rolls. She struggled a little and rather than just sitting in a corner and getting annoyed, off her own back she went over to the mats with her mum and practiced until she got it right. For a student of her age she showed a level of maturity that you just don’t see that often.
Well done Kelsea, we are all very proud of you
Remember remember our student of November!
Mark is an anomaly. He has trained with us, as often as he can, since the beginning of the year. However, don't let the white belt fool you, Mark has a number of years experience at Karate and Martial arts as a whole and experience of practical application through his chosen career.
Having achieved the rank of Nidan (2nd Dan) elsewhere, its a privilege and an honor to have Mark as part of this Club.
Considering his experience, we all learn from Mark, as much as he learns from us making him a true example of how this club runs. He is always happy to assist others, give his thoughts and opinions and make changes to his previous training to ensure he is in line with our syllabus.
This is a very well deserved student of the month!
Aimee has been with us from the beginning. Once you look outside the Valentine household, Aimee was our first student and has been instructing with us since that first class. As she works shifts, Aimee gets to every class she can, when not at work - this is usually 3 times a week.
Aimee's Karate has improved massively since joining the club, but what really makes Aimee stand out, is the improvement in her coaching and teaching skills and her enthusiasm to pass on her knowledge.
Everyone loves working with Aimee, and we all look forward to having her as part of the team for years to come.
Thank you for all your support Aimee.
