Simon has been with the club for a number of months now and attends our Tuesday class with his son Alfie.
He was picked for the Outstanding Student award for January because he shows true grit and determination in every class he comes to. If there is something he is struggling with he just gets on with it and gives it a go anyway, but he also takes on feedback and makes adjustments to his techniques without hesitation.
Well done Simon, very much deserved!
Those of you that know me know how hard it was for me to choose Jake for this award. Those of you that don't will soon come to understand that if you need to give 110% to be considered for this award, then my kids need to give 210%. They get a much harder ride than anyone else.
So its with immense pride that I have awarded this to Jake in February for what has been the best few months in Jake's karate career. He has found a focus that I've never seen before and has impressed all of the instructor team over the last 10 - 12 weeks. Its safe to say, the penny has dropped.
Well done Jake - i'm very proud.
March Student of the Month!
Alfie is completely new to karate and has come on so much since joining. He always gives his training 100%, he may be a quiet young man but his efforts do not go unnoticed. He never misses a class and is a perfect example of the kind of respect we look for. He never complains and he doesn’t get it right every time but no one does.
Well done Alfie we are very proud of you.
It's become evident over the last 18 months that running a club such as this is a lot more than just teaching Karate in classes. There is a whole lot that goes on in the background to keep this show on the road and without Sarah, most of this wouldn't happen.
On top of all that effort behind the scenes, Sarah comes to every class, is a very capable instructor and when she partakes in any lesson, does so with 100% effort and enthusiasm every time. The effort Sarah put into the recent Shodan grading, as well as her outstanding capabilities means Sarah was a clear choice for this month.
Thomas is one of our Tuesday students and he is there every single week, I can only recall him not being there once in all the time he has been with us.
Coming to class is one thing, that’s great, you got to class. It’s something else to come to class and put the work in week in week out and this little guy does it every week. He absolutely gives it his all at every session, even when we are doing harder techniques he still tries!
He has so much potential and is a credit to the club. Well done Thomas!
Macey Grace comes to class every week and give her training 100%. Sometimes she finds herself training with the higher graded students and despite not knowing certain techniques she still gives them a go! In the little time she has been doing karate she has picked things up really quickly and has great potential.
Well done Macey Grace
Sam has done it again. Over the recent month's he has improved week on week, puts in so much effort and really tries his best (and that’s what counts).
Sam's techniques, understanding, effort, control, discipline, desire to progress and overall attitude have been amazing. He really has become a fantastic student – keep it up Sam.
Carson has not been with us for too long, but he has had a huge impact on us as a club and our expectations of the younger students. He doesn't run around and play before class, he stands at his place in line, warms up and practises his Kihon. He always listens and improves week on week. i can see a future star in this kid.
Ethan is one of our younger students and as such at times he loses concentration and his mind wonders (as does mine now and again). However over the last few months, Ethan has really pulled it out of the bag. He tries everything and really puts the effort in - which is all we ever ask. Keep it up Ethan.
Our student of the month has not been with us long, but has had a huge impact. Evan has a natural talent when it comes to Karate and picks things up really quickly. Although that’s not the reason he won this award.
He is first in line, every time. Practices as much as he can in every class. Is always polite, respectful and hard working. This is what makes him such a great student to have at our club. Well done Evan - keep it up!!
